Beltsville resident Edward Steven Monge, 22, and 26-year-old Jennifer Echeverria Flores, of Silver Spring, have been indicted on charges for their alleged roles in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy, officials say.

According to the charging documents, on five different occasions between February and mid-July, Echeverria Flores - who allegedly used Monge as her supplier - sold approximately 4,500 pills containing fentanyl to the undercover officers throughout the DMV region.

The blue pills were marked with an "M" on one side, and "30" on the other, representing actual prescription medication.

Echeverria Flores was arrested in late July and Monge was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant out of Fairfax County in early August.

Prosecutors say that a search of Monge led to the seizure of 1,102 pills on him, which tested positive for fentanyl. He was arrested on a federal arrest warrant on Monday, Sept. 11.

Specifically, both were charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than 400 grams of fentanyl. Echeverria Flores was also charged with the unlawful distribution of 40 grams or more of fentanyl.

They face life in prison on the conspiracy charge and up to 40 years for distribution. They could also be fined by a judge.
